Land Acknowledgement

We respectfully acknowledge that the trails maintained and enjoyed by TIATVC pass through the traditional territories of the Omamiwininiwag (Algonquin), Mississauga, Anishinabewaki, Wendake-Nionwentsio (Huron-Wendat), and Ho-de-no-sau-nee-ga (Haudenosaunee) peoples.

We recognize that these lands have been home to Indigenous Nations since time immemorial, and we acknowledge the profound and enduring connections that First Peoples have to the land, water, and all living things. We also recognize that the history of these territories includes displacement, erasure, and injustice—realities that continue to affect Indigenous communities today.

As guests on these traditional territories, we are committed to doing better. We express our gratitude for the privilege to travel and explore these trails, and we pledge to move forward with greater care and awareness. We will strive to respect the land, listen to and learn from Indigenous voices, and support relationships rooted in humility, accountability, and reconciliation. We honour the presence, resilience, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples—past, present, and future.
